Nearly every dad has a grill in the backyard already. Maybe it is a gas grill, maybe a simple charcoal grill like a Weber Kettle. Some people are fine with just one grill but then there are the rest of us who already have multiple grills but always want more.
These 5 grills I have picked for Father’s Day are for those dads who like tinkering, like trying new cooking methods, and want to expand their grilling and smoking repertoire beyond cooking chicken breasts or hamburgers on their gas grill. I have all these grills in my backyard right now and love cooking on all of them.

PK Grill
PK Grill have been around for a LONG time. Back in the 50s and 60s they were very popular, fell out of favor in the 80s, but recently the company has been revived and they are once again pumping out awesome cookers. PK Grills are charcoal grills that are made from cast aluminum. They are very durable, never rust, and perform amazing.
The PK 360 pictured above is their larger size grill and it runs $899. Dual bottom and top air vents make this a great grill for direct grilling, reverse searing, and even smoking.
If you are looking for something a bit smaller the Original PK is a great option.
I have one of these grills that is over 40 years old and it still works like a champ. When I need to do direct grilling this has become my go-to grill. It runs $469.99 so it is just more than half the cost of the PK 360. These grills are durable enough that if you buy one for Father’s Day there is a good chance it will get handed down to you in a few years.

Kudu Grill
I have had my Kudu Grill for over a year now and still love it. The Kudu Grill is based off the South African Braai style grill. The best feature about this grill is the adjustable grate you can move up and down to control the heat. There are no air vents, just a tray that holds the charcoal. If you want more heat lower the grate, if you want it cooler you can raise it up.
I have a full Kudu Grill review here if you want to read more info. The Kudu Grill starts at $299 (until June 30th) and the price goes up from there as you add different accessories like a smoke dome, cast iron pan, rotisserie, and more. Personally I would go with the Blaze Package for $549 which comes with the smoke dome and a cover.
Here is a quick video of my first cook on my Kudu Grill. It is great for cuts like flank or skirt steak. I also love it for tri tips, half chickens, and picanha.
The Kudu Grill is also great for RVs, camping, tailgating, or taking anywhere you want to grill since the legs come off easily.
Ooni Koda 16 Inch Pizza Oven
There are few grills I can think of that are better for parties than a good pizza oven. Yeah, it isn’t a real grill but it definitely has its place in any good outdoor kitchen. The Ooni Koda 16 is a gas powered pizza oven that can hit temperatures above 900 degrees and cook a pizza in less than 2 minutes. The Ooni Koda 16 runs $599
One thing that sets the Ooni Koda 16 apart from other pizza ovens is the heating element is an L shape and runs up one side of the oven along with the back. Most other pizza ovens just have the heating element in the back.
Another great feature about this pizza oven is you can cook steaks in the Ooni Koda 16 as well. I still haven’t tried chicken wings but those should be good as well.
You will definitely want to get a couple pizza peels for launching and turning the pizzas. I would suggest a bamboo or wood peel for launching and a metal peel for turning and retrieving. Ooni has a ton of different accessories including tables, prep containers, covers, and even the ingredients for making your own dough and sauce. You can even order premade dough balls!
Weber 26″ Kettle
The Weber 26″ Kettle is the big brother of the standard 22″ kettle. A regular kettle does just fine for most people but if you have a larger family or regularly cook for groups the extra space of the 26″ kettle is definitely noticeable.
In the picture above you can see 3 pork butts easily fitting on the Weber 26. Just last week I was able to squeeze 4 pork butts on while using the Slow ‘n Sear XL (definitely the best accessory you can buy for a kettle grill).
Even if I just want to cook one brisket I will go with the 26″ kettle over my 22″. The extra space and increase airflow produces a better end product in my opinion. But even if you are just doing standard burgers, hot dogs, or chicken breasts the extra size is a definite plus.
The Weber Original Kettle Premium Charcoal Grill 26″ costs $429 so it is a price jump from the standard 22″ kettle ($219 for the comparable model) but again, the extra space is worth it.

Slow ‘N Sear Deluxe Kettle Grill
If you want to read a full review of the Slow N Sear kettle you can do that but here are the things that I think sets the Slow ‘N Sear Deluxe Kettle apart from a standard Weber Kettle.
First, the thermometer position is in a much better place than the Weber Kettle. Since the thermometer is by the vent and lower on the dome you will get a much more accurate temperature reading. It is accurate enough that I sometimes just forego using a grate temp thermometer.
Second, the Slow ‘N Sear fits perfectly in the kettle and it also comes with the stainless steel Easy Spin grate. The Slow ‘N Sear is the best accessory you can get for a kettle grill and the Easy Spin grate is a huge upgrade over the standard grate that comes with most kettle grills.
Also the table definitely comes in handy. It is sturdy enough to put a full brisket on and easily folds out of the way. The lid bale is also a great touch.
All in all the Slow ‘N Sear Deluxe Kettle is a great upgrade and alternative to a standard Weber Kettle.
