If you live in Maine (or many places in the Northeast) please feel free to ignore this post and move on. But if you live in the rest of the country chances are you don’t have a local source for a good lobster roll. Luckily there are some great places online to buy lobster rolls (and lobster tails for that matter). If you have been searching for where to buy lobster rolls your search is over. Here are three great sources where you can buy some high quality lobster rolls.
Luke’s Lobster Lobster Rolls
Luke’s Lobster is a primarily a restaurant chain with a handful of restaurants around the country. Beyond that they also started their own seafood company so they could control the entire supply chain for their seafood. By owning their own seafood company Luke’s Lobster can work directly with the lobstermen. This cuts out some of the middlemen and also ensures the freshest lobster you can get.
I got a pack of lobster rolls from Luke’s Lobster a few weeks back. The lobster meat I got was packed on October 3rd and got to me all the way on the other side of the country on the 6th. That is fresher than anything I can buy at the store here.
Luke’s Lobster sells fresh and frozen lobster meat. As far as meats go lobster tends to freeze and thaw very well so don’t be turned off by the frozen option. Fresh is probably a bit better but be ready to use it within a couple days of receiving it.
At Luke’s Lobster you can buy 4 packs or 8 packs of lobster rolls. The 4 pack comes with 1 lb of meat and the 8 pack comes with 2 lbs. These lobster roll packs also come with split top rolls that are pretty much essential for a good roll. I was able to get 6 rolls out of the 4 pack and I had them stuffed with meat (one not pictured). Kind of a sloppy, buttery pile of rolls but they were delicious!
Just add some mayo and butter and you have yourself a great lobster roll.
8 packs start at $120 and 4 packs run $70. There are also some other options that come with some desserts and chowder and the like. $15 for a sandwich may seem like a lot but at most restaurants they will run you $20 or more. Shipping costs $10 for orders over $125 and $18 for orders under $125 which is pretty reasonable.
All in all Luke’s Lobster would be my #1 pick for where to buy lobster rolls. I love that they own their own fishery, the quality is top notch, and the prices are very reasonable. And if you want to grill some lobster tails while you are at it Luke’s can hook you up with those too. Buy lobster rolls at Luke’s Lobster today.

With all these roll packs the choice is yours. You can go with a cold, creamy Maine Lobster Roll that uses mayonnaise or a warm, buttery Connecticut lobster roll. Both are delicious in their own way. Or you can go with a hybrid like I did and coat the buns in mayo and then dump a bunch of warm butter over the rolls.
