Yeah, I know I said pizza oven and the picture above is some great ribeyes I cooked up in my Ooni Koda 16 Gas Powered Pizza Oven. But that is how versatile this pizza oven is. It is pretty much ready to go out of the box. Just connect a standard propane tank and you are ready to cook some great pizzas.
It takes about 20 minutes to fully heat up but once you have it to 900 degrees you will be churning out some awesome Neapolitan pizzas in just a minute or two. And yep, you can cook some pretty dang good steaks in it.
The Ooni Koda 16 sells for $599 and ships free. There are a number of different accessories you can purchase as well including pizza peels (I would suggest a bamboo peel to launch the pizzas and a metal one to retrieve them), cast iron pans, tables and more. The Ooni is a great addition to any well equipped outdoor kitchen.
If you are buying for someone who likes to camp or tailgate the Ooni Koda 16 is also very portable. Just fold up the legs and it is good to go.

Thermoworks Thermapen One
I am a huge fan of all the Thermoworks products but the Thermapen One they released this year might be their best product yet. This instant read thermometer is a perfect gift for anyone who likes to cook. It will be just as home in the kitchen as it is out by the grill.
The Thermapen One measures temperatures accurately in right about one second which is faster than any other thermometer I have seen. With an accuracy spec of plus or minus .5 degrees you will be sure your temperature on your nice ribeye or pork loin or Thanksgiving turkey is what it says it is.
Thermoworks sells the Thermapen One for $105 which is a great price for a piece of equipment like this. It doesn’t take too many overcooked steaks for the Thermapen One to pay for itself. Every cook out there would love to find one of these in their stocking this year.

Beef Jerky Flower Bouquet
Yeah, of course this is a bit gimmicky but it is still pretty awesome. The Manly Man Co. sells these beef jerkey flower bouquets for $89. Each bouquet comes with 12 meat sticks topped with jerky flowers packed in a nice pint glass.
Is this the best jerky you will ever eat? Probably not but it isn’t bad at all. I have eaten a lot worse jerky in my day and would be happy to eat this again. There are four different flavors to choose from: Teriyaki, Hot, Original, or Mixed.
The Manly Man Co. has a number of different jerky and meat related gifts including other bouquets, a “meat card” where you can print a custom message on a piece of jerky, bacon roses, and more. And to top it all off you can wrap all your gifts in their bacon scented wrapping paper.

Dalstrong Gladiator 10″ Bullnose Butcher Knife
I got one of these knifes about a year ago. At first I thought it was a bit gimmicky and it wouldn’t be that good of a knife but I have been proven wrong. I LOVE cutting with this thing. Yeah, it is huge and bigger than most people need but it does a great job cutting through huge pieces of meat. This Dalstrong Bull Nose Butcher knife will be loved by any meat lover.
These knives sell for $79.99 and for the price they are a very solid knife. I have been using mine regularly for over a year and haven’t had to sharpen it yet. The blade holds up very well.
Dalstrong sells dozens (maybe hundreds?) of different styles of knives from pretty tame looking chefs knives to some wicked looking cleavers. But for someone who likes to cut large hunks of meat the Bull Nose Butcher knife will make a great gift.

Japanese A5 Wagyu Steak
I am of the opinion that everyone should try some Japanese A5 Wagyu steak at least once in their lives. This beef is something that just needs to be experienced and savored. As you take a bite of this delicacy the intermuscular fat just bursts in your mouth and explodes in flavor.
The steaks above are from Pursuit Farms. I am a big fan of Pursuit Farms overall and they specialized in some of the higher end Japanese A5 Wagyu. They carry many brands you won’t find elsewhere. Yeah, they are expensive but they are amazing. Many of these steaks are over $200 a pound but it is worth it for a once in a lifetime (or once a year) splurge.
If you are looking for some slightly less expensive (but still amazing) Japanese A5 Wagyu I recently enjoyed a Kagoshima ribeye from The Meatery
These are they types of steaks most people wouldn’t buy for themselves but they are a great thing to give and receive as a gift. If there is someone on your Christmas list you want to spoil pick them up some Japanese A5 Wagyu.

Kudu Grill
Are you looking for a cool grill to get someone who already has a couple other grills? I have been loving cooking on my Kudu Grill this past year.
The Kudu Grill is based on the South African Braai grills. It consist of the fire pan and then has a movable grill grate you can raise or lower. Rather than control the heat with vents and air flow you can control the temperature by raising and lowering the grill grate.
Kudu Grills also have a number of awesome accessories available including a cast iron pan, a smoke dome, a rotisserie, and more. The Blaze Package comes with the smoke dome and cast iron pan and runs $549.
I have a full review of the Kudu Grill here so take a read and see if it would fit the griller on your Christmas list.

Three Books I Have Enjoyed This Year
I am not a huge reader but I do love looking through cookbooks and reading anything that talks about meat. These three books have held my attention very well this year and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is interested in grilling, smoking, and cooking meat:
Glorious Beef: The LaFrieda Family and the Evolution of the American Meat Industry: I am in the middle of this one right now and it is a great look into the business of meat from a butcher and purveyor’s perspective
Rodney Scott’s World of BBQ: Every Day is a Good Day: This is a great look into the story of one of the best bbq cooks in the country. It tells a great story of his life and has a bunch of excellent recipes as well. It really makes me want to build a whole hog pit!
Texas BBQ, Small Town to Downtown: This beautiful book is full of pictures and stories of some of the great Texas BBQ restaurants, pitmasters, and cooks. This book is great for anyone who loves smoking and barbecue. Few books have pictures that show the beauty of barbecue like this one.
