UPDATE: This sale on the rib roasts has ended but there are some other great items on sale at Snake River Farms. Also check out their special Father’s Day packages.
Have you bought a rib roast (most commonly referred to as a “Prime Rib” (more on that later)) at the grocery store lately? How much did you pay? $10 per pound? $12 per pound? More? It is very easy to drop $100 or more on a nice rib roast and because of that it is one of those cuts of beef that is usually reserved for special occasions like Christmas dinner or an anniversary or something like that.
But what if I told you for the rest of the month of May you could get a super high quality rib roast (much, much better than what you would find at the grocery store) for under $10 per pound? For the rest of the month Snake River Farms is having an awesome sale on all their roasts including rib roasts starting at $7.90 per pound which is an amazing price considering the quality of the Snake River Farms beef.
Here are some of the options:
Standing Rib Roast – 10 lbs for $79 ($7.90 per pound) – This is an awesome price for a bone-in rib roast that is big enough to feed probably 6-8 people depending on how hungry they are. Remember, you will lose some weight when you cut the bones and the meat will naturally shrink as it cooks. Most butchers say 2 people per rib and this is a 4 rib roast.
3 Bone Roast – 7 lbs for $59 ($8.49 per pound) – For a smaller family of 4-6 people this 3 bone roast should do the trick. The normal price on this roast is $159 so you are saving $100 during this sale.
Boneless Rib Roast – 6.5 lbs for $79 ($12.15 per pound) – I don’t know if I would cook a boneless rib roast as a regular “prime rib” since the bones add so much to the cooking process, mostly shielding the meat from the heat. But you could slice this roast into some awesome rib eye steaks. Or this would be a great cut to deep fry just like you would do a turkey. I have deep fried rib roasts before and they turn out amazing. The crust on the outside is to die for and the middle is a perfect rare temperature.
American Kobe Prime – 5 lbs for $139 ($27.80 per pound) – Yeah, $28 per pound is an expensive roast but this one is the best of the best. It is American Kobe which is a wagyu cattle crossed with angus, is 100% natural and hormone free. Similar roasts sell for $40-80 per pound from other retailers so getting one of these for under $30 is pretty amazing.
American Kobe Prime – 7 lbs for $149 ($21.28 per pound) – If you thought the 5 pound American Kobe prime roast was a great price the 7 pounder can be had for under $22 per pound. Buy one of these to throw in your freezer for Christmas.
These are some seriously awesome prices for some great cuts of meat. Like I said, this is much higher quality than what you will get at your grocery store. Order one and taste the difference today. And during checkout if you use the code FREEAFF you get free shipping. That makes it much easier than even driving to the store!
And about “Prime Rib”? Well, many say “Prime Rib” is a distinction that should be used for only a rib roast from prime grade meat which is the best 2% of beef. But the term “Prime Rib” has been around for longer than the USDA has been grading beef and refers to the cut being one of the best cuts of beef rather than the USDA “prime” grade. So go ahead and call any rib roast a Prime Rib.
These roasts are also perfect for Father’s Day so place your order today and keep it in your freezer for a couple weeks.
