Hardcore Carnivore: Cook Meat Like You Mean It
I have a more in depth review of this book coming sometime soon but here is the quick version: If you want to get better at cooking meat this is the book for you. The author, Jess Pryles, used to be intimidated when standing at the meat counter so she took it upon herself to learn more about meat. She is now one of the top experts in the world on how to cook meat and she has put that knowledge into this great book.
The first section of the book is kind of like an intro to meat. It covers some basic meat cooking methods, talks about the importance of temperature, shows you how to set up your grill for 2 zone cooking, and other info along those lines. For cooks who like meat but aren’t experts this is some invaluable information that will make your wife or mother a better cook. The second part of the book is some good, accessible recipes that most home cooks will be able to follow.
If your mother or wife enjoys cooking but is a bit intimidated by cooking meat they will love this book. Order on Amazon for $20.77
Thermoworks Thermometers
A good thermometer is the most important tool a cook can have when it comes to cooking meat. The Thermoworks DOT pictured above is one of the best thermometers you can get for the money at only $39 a piece. Have you had to suffer through too many overcooked roasts or well done steaks because your wife got distracted changing a dirty diaper or breaking up a fight between the kids? Just stick the DOT probe in the meat, set your target temp, and the alarm goes off when it gets to that temperature.
Help your wife or mother become a better cook with a new thermometer. Order the DOT for only $39. I have one of these and use it all the time. I would also recommend the Thermopop ($29) and the ChefAlarm ($59) for use in the kitchen. Thermoworks makes awesome products that are quick, accurate, and very reasonably priced.

Made In Cookware Mother’s Day Collection
A few months back I reviewed Made In Cookware and their stainless steel pans. These are some awesome pans and I still love cooking on them. If your wife or mother enjoys cooking they will love these pans. The stainless steel skillet is great for searing meat, making pan sauces, or even simple tasks like frying up some sausage or burgers. Every time I make eggs I bring out the non-stick pan and it has made a boatload of grilled cheese sandwiches.
The pans start at $59 for an 8 inch stainless steel pan. But definitely check out the carbon steel pans as well. Shop the Made In Cookware Mother’s Day collection today.
